Welcome to Madison-Greene Humane Society (MGHS), a No-Kill Cat Shelter! We are a small, grassroots corporation (501c3), governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Greene County provides shelter for dogs only, so the fate of abandoned and homeless cats in our county rests solely with Madison-Greene Humane Society; yearly, we save the lives of about 300 cats. Additionally, we greatly benefit surrounding counties in Central Virginia by offering weekly low-cost spay-neuter clinics and bi-annual low-cost rabies clinics.
Our physical location is adjacent to the Greene County Animal Shelter on Jeri Allen Way in Ruckersville, across Route 33 from Stanardsville. We welcome visitors, particularly those interested in adopting one of our cats.
